Frequently Asked Questions

Learn more about how Direct Primary Care works, what’s included in your membership, and how it provides simple, personalized healthcare for your child.

  • Direct Primary Care (DPC) is an innovative, membership-based healthcare model. Instead of billing insurance, patients pay a flat monthly fee. My goal is to make your child’s healthcare straightforward, accessible, and personalized, without the constraints and confusion that come with insurance.

  • Yes! My practice is devoted to the health and wellbeing of your child. I’m here for you whenever needed, whether it’s for an unexpected illness, or routine sports physical.

My goal is to limit or eliminate your need for visits at clinics such as Urgent Care, by efficiently responding to your concerns. Additionally, I am also available via secure text, phone, or email for concerns that arise, even if you are away from home!

  • The membership model is actually more affordable for many families! For one, families with multiple children pay a maximum of $300/month, no matter how many children are enrolled. When broken down by day, the maximum payment is $10 per day. There are no hidden fees or surprise bills. In a traditional practice, a sick visit can cost more than $200 out of pocket. With Alma DPC, all visits are included in your membership, no matter how many visits, phone calls, or texts it takes to provide the care your child needs.

  • I do not bill insurance, but I will use your insurance for ordering vaccines, labs, and imaging if needed.

  • Yes. It is recommended that all patients have health insurance to provide coverage for catastrophic events, hospitalization, vaccinations, and other expensive unexpected health needs.

  • Easy! Instead of waiting until the office opens, calling, waiting on hold, and hoping there is availability, you can book your appointment online anytime. Limiting the practice panel makes it easy to accommodate same day or next day visits.

Additionally, many concerns can be addressed without an office visit, simply by sending a message, photo, or video.

  • Dr. Wensman is available by text and call during evenings and weekends, and will address your question as quickly as possible. Weekend appointments are available on an as-needed basis.

  • Dr. Wensman is a primary care physician. There may be conditions or situations that are better served by a specialist. Dr. Wensman will work hard to facilitate that connection for you.

  • You are free to cancel anytime, no questions asked. We are here to build lasting relationships through trust and great care, not by forced contracts
